Pretty Things

design fest

Beach City Life & Style

I'm going to this! I wanted to let you know about it too. My friend Megan will be on one of the panels (which is how I found out about it). Editors of some of the best interior design magazines will be there and the world of interiors will be converging on this space for the 3 day event. I have such admiration for "real" interior designers and just love soaking up their wisdom and of course looking at all the pretty things they create. If you're a wannabe designer or just love interiors, you might want to get yourself a ticket. Here's the website for more info www.legends2013.

A couple weeks ago I went to the Lucky Magazine event (LuckyFABB) where they invite lots of bloggers and brands to talk about all things social media. They had a gifting suite where you could choose from all kinds of beautiful things to take home with you. Most of the items were things I couldn't use, but this jewelry was so pretty and I thought it had a real beachy look to it. I told them they must bring their jewelry to one of our beach city shops ASAP! In the meantime, you can shop on their website and see all their beautiful things.  www.julievos.com

I was pleasantly surprised when I drove past ms vintage at their new location on Culver Blvd. They were previously located on Abbot Kinney, but have now set up shop in Playa Del Rey which is wonderfully close to our area here in the beach cities. This shop is an absolute dream to browse through because all the items are handpicked by owners Marsha and Sabrina who have a wonderful eye for all the best in vintage. You'll find top designer labels but also obscure labels that only "in the know" and well schooled fashion types would know of. Marsha and Sabrina travel all over collecting and sourcing amazing pieces for their shop.

They carry men's pieces as well and in many cases they know exactly where all the items originated. I love hearing all the stories about where something was found and how they came to acquire it.

Above 1930s French dressing/jewelry table and Hermes cape wrap were like nothing I'd ever seen before and I wanted to take them both home with me.

I had so much fun chatting with Marsha and Sabrina. I wanted to hang out with them all day. They were so welcoming and passionate about the treasures in their shop. I hope you'll visit them soon and see for yourself!

J Lynn Jewelry

Beach City Life & Style

JLynn Jewelry first caught my eye when I wrote about this store last December. My favorite of the collection are these birthstone pendants, but all the pieces are beautiful. This past August, creator and owner of JLynn Jewelry lost her cousin to breast cancer at the young age of 39. For the month of October, Jennifer is offering 20% off her pieces and donating 39% of the proceeds to Breast Cancer Research.

go to her website: jlynn-jewelry.com and enter PINK at check out.
